Fei-Ping Hsu 许斐平 (1952 - 2001), was born on July 20th on Gulangyu Island
|
|
|
in southeast China. His father was a pastor. His mother taught him to play the piano.
|

1964
|
He played the complete Chopin studies and performed with the Shanghai Philharmonic
|
| |
Orchestra.
|
|
|
He entered the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and became its first solo pianist.
|
| |
|
|
1979
|
On a scholarship, he attended the Eastman School of Music at the University of
|
| |
Rochester and the following year, he joined the Juilliard School in New York,
|
|
|
of Sascha Gorodnitzki.Gorodnitzki.
|

|
|
1983
|
He won the Gold Medal at the Rubinstein International Piano Competition, followed by
|
| |
other major competitions.
